Violence for Cocaine.

Marla Dickerson, a Los Angeles Times Staff Writer wrote on Thursday, December 20, 2007 about a horrible incident in the article entitled, "5 mutilated bodies turn up near Mexico City" which discusses the horrifying scenes in Mexico City where 5 separtate bodies were found near the Mexican City airport multiatled and some with thier index fingers chopped off. (http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-drugs20dec20,1,4905178.story?coll=la-headlines-world&ctrack=2&cset=true). It is believed that these killings were in some way related or a sign of how furious the drug smugglers near by felt when their half a ton of cocaine was siezed by authorities the Friday before December 14, 2007, on an airplane that landed in the Mexico City airport from Colombia. First two bodies were found in the trunk of a Chevrolet Cavalier decapitated with thier index fingers chopped off, and one of the heads had a finger shoved in its mouth. The vehicle was found north of the airport and only discovered because neighbors complained about a fowl odor that came the car. Within the week after a forklift operator and a customs agent were arrested three more bodies were found on the outskirts of Mexico City. Two of the bodies were decapitated with their fingers chopped off, and the third body with both hands chopped off. Though it was only announced that only two dead bodies were found, but that niether had been identified. To helpf reduce the violence or at least hopefully the killings the President of Mexico City, Felipe Calderon sent "about 25,000 soldiers and federal police officers to the nation's drug-trafficking hot spots." Unfortuneatley for the Mexico City many deaths have occurred that in some sort are related to drug violence, which analysts and officials say are new ways to bring, "psychological warfare to the drug trade."

Clarification: Why were there five decapitated bodies found near or around Mexico City?

Application: Can this sort of drug violence be stopped, or lowered?

This blog was created in order for me to fulfill the requirements of my A.P. English Language course. This will allow me to increase my knowledge of what's going on in the world today, and what has been happening, or why things are happening the way they are now.
